We had the first FIRC schooling show on Saturday, April 7.
Despite the cold weather and occasional blowing snow, eight riders and
seven horses turned out.
For the first time, we had two intern judges come to the show. Alex
Pregitzer traveled from Wisconsin, and Sara Lyter flew in from Florida.
Alex gave lessons to youth riders on Friday afternoon. After the show, the
judges met with the riders and gave excellent comments on performances and
what things riders could work on in the future.
The eight riders were Sverrir Bjartmarz, Jo Ann Brown, Trish Juerling, Jill
Gates (visiting from NY), Lauren Milloy, Megan Milloy, Susan Milloy, and
me. Lauren (9), Jill (13), and Megan (14) rode together in the novice tolt.
Lauren wants to try the four gait next time.
Megan on her new horse, Skjalfti, was the top point getter. Rich Moore took second place.
Curt Pierce attended and assisted the judges. Marsha
Korose was there too and was in charge of the gates. We appreciated
their assistance.
We look forward to the next schooling shows on May 19 and
June 2. Everyone is welcome!
