The Frida Icelandic Riding Club (FIRC) of The Mid-Atlantic Region
History:
Several Icelandic horse owners and some members of the
United States Icelandic Horse Congress
(USIHC), meeting at the Maryland Horse Expo in January 2002, thought that forming a Regional Chapter under the USIHC would be a good way to honor the memory of our friend
Frida Gudmundsdottir
, who worked so hard to bring us all together to share our love of the Icelandic horse, as well as to continue her work. In addition, "Frida," our friend's name, comes from the Icelandic word for "peace," and so seems particularly appropriate these days.
Club events include trail rides, barbeques, clinics, shows, demonstrations, and trade-show exhibits in an area roughly defined as a reasonable drive from Frida's former home in Rising Sun, Maryland (NJ, PA, MD, VA or WV) . You do not have to own an Icelandic horse or be a member of the United States Icelandic Horse Congress to join. If you are an admirer of the Icelandic Horse and live in the mid-Atlantic region, please
join us
.
